I am building a small wooden deck (less than 100 sq ft and about 14 inches above grade to align with the existing slab.) that will extend beyond my covered patio. It will not have a cover, but simply bounded by a trellis and hand-rails. I am also laying some pavers (about 300 sq ft) in sand beyond this deck extension. Do I need a permit for either of these and what is the price of the permit. I will do all the work myself and this is my residence. I have Sun City CA approval to proceed.

For this project, a permit is required. You would need to submit the Miscellaneous Residential Additions
Form, 2 copies of your plot plan, 2 copies of a layout plan showing how it will be constructed, a copy of
the Sun City Approval and a $35 fee. If you need anything or have anymore questions please contact
Inspection Services at (512) 930-2550.

Once I have all the required paperwork do I bring it to your office or can it be faxed or emailed? Thank you!

If the paperwork is for a Residential or Commercial Addition then it will either need to be mailed in or
brought in by person.

I am building a shed in my backyard. It will be sitting on pads. it will be not be permenant sturcture. Do I need to pull
a permit?

Yes, a permit is required. Even if the building is on skids or pads, it is not allowed in any easements for setbacks. Additionally, the square footage would count toward impervious cover allowances on the property.
